Wednesday Chess is coming! We are wanting to gauge interest in hosting weekly sessions on a Wednesday night at the Whangarei Bridge club 17 North Street, Woodhill, Whangārei 0110. We are hosting an initial 6 round rapid tournament starting on Wednesday 26th of August. Doors will open around 6:30 with the first game expected to start at 7pm. We will play 2 games a night over 3 weeks and on the 16th of September hold a meeting on where to from here. You can see current attendees who have signed up to play below, once the games start this will also show the current results
The 2026 Whangarei Open tournament will be held at the Whangarei Bridge Club on 24-25 January. Saturday is the Schools section (10 minutes per player per game), Sunday is Open (25 minutes per player), full information on the home page to the left.
